The theme of Issue 43 of Policy and Practice, ‘Learning for Transformation’, is a conscious evocation of the Training for Transformation (TFT) handbooks (Hope and Timmel, 2014) published in the 1980s and 1990s by Partners Training for Transformation (Partners TFP), a non-profit community organisation established in 1981.  Partners TFP was created under the influence of Paulo Freire’s (Freire, 1996) radical pedagogy by community educators, many of whom had worked in the global South, and explored ‘the benefits of using experiential methods in community and development educa
